Francisca Lila’s new short film Herbarium premiered in Biarritz, proving her striking cinematic voice and showcasing a unique exploration of documentary and essay techniques.
"The idea of making Herbarium came as I was reading the April 2019 edition of Cahiers du Cinéma, in which they made a cinematic herbarium. I had just presented another video essay at the Filmadrid festival in Spain, and I set out to build an herbarium using images and sounds taken from films, just as Cahiers had done on paper,” Lila told us.

Lila is currently exploring new themes and forms, writing a fiction short film that she will shoot next year, combining her interest in film criticism with her work as a fashion director.
