We're back and with more energy than ever before at Conecta Fiction (September 13-16), one of the most important events for serialized content in the world. This market is a networking platform dedicated exclusively to the co-production of fiction television series and business promotion between America and Europe.
Demonstrating that the film and episodic series industries are interconnected through their cinematographic power, directors Matías Bize, Rodrigo Sepúlveda, and Alvaro Ceppi are taking part with their new projects in the official selection for the market. "NIÑOS DE CONTRABANDO", BY MATÍAS BIZE
Bize, one of the most outstanding directors in Chile, has made seven films that have received awards worldwide, premiering in festivals such as Venice (The memory of water, 2015) and Locarno (En la Cama, 2005; Lo Bueno de Llorar, 2007), among many others. In addition, his film La Vida de Los Peces received the Goya Award in 2011.
At Pitch Copro Series, he will present his new project, a television series named Niños de contrabando (The stolen kids), a fiction drama that addresses an issue that deeply affects Latin America and is touching on a universal level: clandestine adoptions. "ANTONIO", BY ÁLVARO CEPPI
Ceppi is one of the most outstanding directors and producers of animation in Chile and Latin America, gaining recognition as the creator of the production company Zumbástico and the successful series Puerto Papel. He has worked as creator and director of the animated series Block!, Experimento Wayapolis, Achú, Horacio y los Plasticines and Zumbástico Fantástico, the last of which was the first Chilean series to be broadcast by Cartoon Network.
In the market, he will present Antonio, a science fiction drama that follows the adventures of a curious teenager. Produced by Zumbastico Studios

"MATADERO FRANKLIN", BY RODRIGO SEPÚLVEDA
Rodrigo Sepúlveda is the director of one of the most celebrated Chilean films of 2020, Tengo Miedo Torero (Venice Days, 2020). The film stars Alfredo Castro in the role of "La Loca del Frente", a drag queen who gets involved in a risky secret operation during the Pinochet Dictatorship. Based on the book by Pedro Lemebel, the film was acclaimed by both critics and audiences.
His new serial project, Matadero Franklin, is a gangster thriller set in the emblematic Santiago neighborhood. Produced by Invercine and Blackpanther Films (Spain).

3 producers will be participating in Conecta Fiction thanks to the support of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage (MINCAP), through the Program for Attendance at International Markets organized by the Council of Arts and the Audiovisual Industry (CAIA).

Leonora Gonzalez (Parox):
Leonora González is a producer and partner of la Parox, a company with 20 years of experience. She returns to Conecta for the third consecutive year, this time with a catalog of projects in search of co-producers.
"For Parox, it is a challenge to work the markets like this, which are done online, it is a learning experience and we think that Conecta has developed a very interesting form of networking that lets us continue developing, even though it's done remotely", she tells us.

Macarena Cardone (Invercine):
Macarena Cardone is the executive producer of Invercine. She is appearing at Conecta Fiction with the project Matadero Franklin, by Rodrigo Sepúlveda, seeking to raise funds.
"Conecta Fiction is a market that we Chileans who have had the opportunity to participate absolutely love. I have been part of the market since its creation and I have gone a couple of times, and it has been a very good experience, because it is a very welcoming, dynamic, and productive market,” said Cardone.

Omar Zeballos (Flying Films):
Omar Zeballos and his partner Sophie Chevalier are an audiovisual pair who have created fiction and documentary productions for years. They arrive at Conecta Fiction with several projects in their collection.
Among these are Kuntur and the projects Comité Chile and Flighters, all in development and searching for co-producers.
”It is a very interesting market for us, since it is a place that brings together projects, professionals and initiatives from all over the world, with a particular emphasis on the Hispanic world," Zeballos said.
For her part, Chevalier says, "We are very happy and very grateful to be part of the Chilean delegation at Conecta. It is a very important market for us, we are excited to be able to move our projects forward.”
