CinemaChile and SANFIC will celebrate together their anniversaries and a historic alliance

CinemaChile and SANFIC will celebrate together their anniversaries and a historic alliance

This Sunday marks the beginning of a new edition of the Santiago International Film Festival (SANFIC) and its renowned industry space, providing a great opportunity to celebrate an important double anniversary: ten years of CinemaChile and fifteen years of SANFIC. The alliance between the sectorial brand and one of the most important international festivals in the country is defined by a joint effort to internationalize Chilean audiovisual content, opening doors for fresh talent in the global market. This year, we will honor these milestones together.

This alliance also means that CinemaChile, the ProChile and APCT sector brand, will have an important presence in the activities of SANFIC Industry, participating in round tables, panels and evaluating both Chilean and international projects in development.

This year, the eighth version of the Ibero-American Work in Progress that will take place between August 19th and 23rd, will focus on projects that have already been filmed and are in the post-production stage. The selection consists of 6 feature films in their “First Cut” stage, including both fictions and documentaries that will be evaluated by a jury composed of three international film professionals. The productions that will participate are Años luz by Joaquín Mauad, (Uruguay), Odisea amazónica by Álvaro Sarmiento y Diego Sarmiento (Perú), Esquirlas by Natalia Garayalde (Argentina), Hermanas by Paola Ochoa (Colombia – Estados Unidos), Lo habitado by Martín Emiliano Díaz (Argentina), and  Las demás de Alexandra Hyland (Chile).

Additionally, Santiago Lab will also bring light to fresh content, focusing on Latin American documentary and fiction projects that are  in development. Both directors and producers of the works will receive advice and may present their work to a panel of experts. The winners will obtain various prizes to continue the development of their films.

The fiction productions that will participate are Ahora vienen por nosotros, by Shawn Garry; Ancestra, by Paulette Lecaros; Aracne, by Florencia Dupont; Ba’Alche, by Wong Reyes; Cuentero, by Erick Haro; Desarraigo, by Camilo Cadena Erazo; El amanecer de los cahueles, by Sebastián Cuevas Barría; El forastero, by Lucas Quintana; Garúa, by Ana Sofía Osorio; La máquina que destruye recuerdos del futuro, by Lucas Turturro; Los afectos, by Diego Ayala and Aníbal Jofré, Los niños del viento, by Katherina Harder; Mi nuevo estilo de baile, by Pablo Berthelon; Mitra, apaga la luz para poder ver, by Diego Sebastian Bellocchio; Niño Marchito, by  Pelayo Lira; Noche de verano, by  Christian Nawrath Smith; Noche de verano,  by Joaquín Ruano; Peek-a-boo, by  Francisco Pavanetto; Primero tomamos anillaco, by Paula Martel; Schäefer, Se busca by Lucho Smok y Shadowplay, by Felipe Eluti.
