The 30th edition of the Marseille International Film Festival will take place from 9 to 15 June. The event will screen more than 125 films that will represent 35 countries of the globe and a total of 33 films will have their world premiere. These include two national productions, a documentary and an animated short film.
“Nunca Subí el Provincia” is the latest installment of the director and renowned national documentary maker Ignacio Agüero, a film produced by Macarena López (Film Manufacturing) that will have its world premiere at the International Competition of the Marseille International Film Festival; while the animated short film “Extrañas criaturas”, directed by Cristóbal León (co-director of the hit movie "La casa lobo") and Cristina Sitja, and produced by Catalina Vergara (Diluvio) will have its world premiere in the Écrans parallèles section.
For its part, “Nunca subí el Provinca” is defined by its own author as "a state of digression" and is about the relationship of a filmmaker with the corner of his house, where a new building has changed the life of the neighborhood and has interrupted the vision he had of the Provincia hill and the Andes mountain range. This situation is told in handwritten letters to a young filmmaker who one day went to leave her his first film.
On the other hand, “Extrañas Criaturas”, 15 minutes long, focuses its narrative on a summer day, where forest animals are invited to a party where they will eat a lot of cake and dance the night away. When the party ends, they find that there are no trees to take shelter and obtain food: strange creatures have stolen their houses, so they decide to go in search of them.
