Starting today and for a week we will delve into the lives of women from different places of Chile who will soon become mothers, a captivating journey through How Chileans are Born that inquires into what it means for them to bring a child into the world.
How Chileans are Born is a 12 episode documentary series, of 52 minutes each, that shows the process of pregnancy and childbirth of Chilean women from different parts of the country. From women of native cultures who have their children under traditions and rituals unknown to most Chileans, to those who seek to give birth without any medical intervention.

This production takes us into the diverse socio-cultural contexts in which Chileans are born; it is a journey into what it means to bring a child into the world, with expectations, emotions, conflicts, hopes and dreams. It explores the feminism, motherhood and social class differences that mark the lived experience of each of them.
How Chileans are born won the National Television Council fund in 2011 (CNTV) in the Non-Fiction category and was produced by Mi chica Producciones. Its television premiere was in 2012 on the national channel TVN. Among the main recognitions it obtained there are the Journalistic Excellence, and Best Documentary, both in 2012 as part of the Prize Pobre el que no cambia de Mirada.

Mi Chica Producciones was created in 2009 as an audiovisual team motivated by telling humane stories from the most diverse realities and latitudes, appealing to the audience to connect with other people’s lives. Its productions have contributed to the regard and reflection of the world, and for that it has won various awards, including 2 International Emmy Awards for their production What is your dream? , which was also part of our Tuesday of Chilean Series.
