This was without a doubt the year of Chilean cinema in Toulouse. The French festival awarded four national productions in different sections and paid special homage to outstanding national actor Alfredo Castro.
Awarded films
With films that range from features to shorts, four national productions were awarded. One of the strong points in the lineup was the hit film My Tender Matador by Rodrigo Sepúlveda, which took home four distinctions: the Audience Award, the Special Jury Mention for Alfredo Castro's performance, the Cine+ Award, and special mention by the CCAS Awards Judges.
In addition, the actor received a Special Mention from the Jury for the film Karnaval by Juan Pablo Félix (a co-production between Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil. Chile, Mexico, and Norway).
Tribute to Alfredo Castro
The event paid tribute to Alfredo Castro (who won two prizes for his interpretations in two of the films in the competition), for whom we at CinemaChile also produced a video highlighting the greatest successes of one of our actors to receive the most recognition internationally.
The prestigious Toulouse also produced a retrospective on the professional career of Alfredo Castro, highlighting ten of the films he worked on in Chile and internationally since 2008: Tony Manero, Tengo miedo torero, Rojo, Perro bomba, No, Los perros, Desde allá, Karnawal, Blanco en blanco, and y Algunas bestias.
