A journey in search of our identity accompanies us in this Tuesday of Chilean Series

A journey in search of our identity accompanies us in this Tuesday of Chilean Series

Today we celebrate 9 weeks showing serial content on our Tuesday of Chilean Series, which means that we have had the pleasure of broadcasting 8 national productions filled with good stories and professionals of international quality, that make these fiction and non-fiction stories possible.

Over the next few days we will be sharing the documentary series La Sangre Tira, directed by Cristián Leighton and produced by Daniela Bunster, which in 2014 was broadcasted by Televisión Nacional (TVN). This series tells in 10 episodes the story of Chileans who wish to complete their family tree, looking for their origins and ancestors outside of Chile.

La Sangre Tira stars characters from different socioeconomic classes, descendants of immigrants in Chile. Each episode begins with a story about the motivations for finding their migratory roots and the interests that move them to make the journey.  It is a physical journey, visiting places and people, but also an emotional journey, generating a tragic-comic drama about finding a part of your family history.

This documentary series was made thanks to the funds of the National Television Council (CNTV) in 2012, with the strong idea of identifying the historical crosses that Chile has had and that have affected our most intimate identity, our family realities and our social imaginary.

According to the CNTV, "the challenge will lead them to undertake a physical and internal journey, motivated by the will to want to know the history of their own families, by the questions and conflicts represented by having an identity coming from a cultural and blood mixture".

Leighton and Bunster have been working for more than 20 years on a large and diverse selection of cultural and heritage documentaries, all with a deep view to the construction of identity and belonging. The themes of their works, screened at festivals such as FIDMARSEILLE, NYFF, FIDOCS and BAFICI, include interculturalism, the desire and abuse of the body and the search for refuge.

They are currently producing the series Adoptados, a production that, as its name indicates, will bring us closer to adoption and childhood, focused on children who were adopted between the 70’s and 90’s in Chile, mainly by foreign people. As adults,  these people will look for their biological origins as well as the history they had before they were adopted.

We invite you to travel with us in these two trips! One of the family history of Narine Simonian (Armenia) by clicking here and another of the family history of Dániza Tomicic (Croatia) by clicking here
