Vera, who is 10, disappears in Liguria. Two years later she comes back, but looking 25. She does not remember anything. When the images resurface, Vera realizes she has lived the life of a clinically dead man. This man was waking up in the Atacama Desert at the same moment that Vera vanished into thin air.
