Antofacine International Festival opened its 2020 call of entries with new spaces for filmmakers from northern Chile

  • The meeting of national and international cinematographic creation will live its 9 version from November 17 to 21 in Antofagasta.
  • The call is open and will run until June 30 at www.antofacine.cl and through the Festival online platform.
  • This Festival is organized and produced by the Centro Artístico Cultural Retornable, in addition to being presented by Escondida | BHP and sponsored by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, through the Cultural Donations Law.

 

The International Film Festival in Antofagasta, Antofacine, has already opened its 2020 call, expecting to receive hundreds of works for the meeting that will take place from November 17 to 21 in the regional capital, with several new features, highlighting online applications in all its formats.

After the successful film meeting of 2019, this contest will live its Ninth Version and seeks to promote the development of the audiovisual sector, contributing with the creation of a professional space for the diffusion and meeting of national and international cinema.

Those interested in participating in this new version of the festival must register their work in the Registration Form that is already available on the website www.antofacine.cl or through the online platform Festhome. Applications will be received until June 30.

This time all national and international works of fiction and non-fiction that have been produced during the years 2019 and 2020 will be able to participate in the meeting. However, priority will be given to works that are premiere in the northern part of the country, comprised by the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo.

For Francisca Fonseca, Director of Antofacine, “the role of the Cultures and the Arts is fundamental in times like the one we currently live in. These are times when we need to know new stories that speak of our role in this world, issues that concern us all, such as the Environment, Human Rights and Inclusion, among others. ”

 

CATEGORIES

The participating categories, as in its previous version, are: International Feature Film Competition, National Feature Film Competition, International Short Film Competition and the International New Languages ​​Competition.

The works will be evaluated by the programming team, who will define the films that will make up the four categories in competition. Decision that will be published in October on the festival's website. Those who have doubts regarding the application and participation process can write to the email programacion@antofacine.cl.

The winners of the contest will receive the following prizes: Best International Feature Film

$ 2.000.000 pesos chilenos, Best National Feature Film $ 1.500.000 pesos chilenos, Best International Short Film $ 800.000 pesos chilenos and Best New Language Competition $ 1.000.000 pesos chilenos. Each category will also take the Chango Trophy.

The Antofagasta International Film Festival, Antofacine, is organized and produced by Centro Artístico Cultural Retornable, in addition to being presented by Escondida | BHP and sponsored by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, through the Cultural Donations Law.

In its 2019 version, it had as winners "La Camarista" (International Feature Film), "Harley Queen" (National Feature Film), "Guaxuma" (International Short Film), "Seven Years in May" (New Languages) and "Parío y Criao ”(Public Vote).

In addition, 1.365 titles were registered last year among feature films, medium-length films and short films from 58 countries throughout South America, Central and North America, Europe, Oceania, Africa and Asia.
