In Chile, they have been building bridges with their international peers, knowing how to get the most out of each industry event in which they participate, and strengthening the ties created throughout the calendar, wherein there\u2019s a very particular week: the industry encounter at San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival. Each year, the occasion brings together all its attendees at the San Telmo Museum in the Basque city. However, as has been the case since March, in this instance, the encounters are only taking place virtually, where the more than 15 Chilean producers are working arduously.<\/p>\n<p>This is how, in addition to being represented by 4 productions in competition at the festival and 3 projects selected in industry sections, our country is participating with an <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/presskit-SS2020-CinemaChile.pdf\"><strong>experienced delegation of producers<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and their best cinematic proposals, from thrillers, to dramas, animations, and even fantasy films.<\/p>\n<p>From this potent group, today we\u2019re highlighting four names, producers who are participating in San Sebasti\u00e1n thanks to support from the <strong>Ministry of Culture, the Arts and Development (MINCAP): Karina Jury of 17 Films, Sebasti\u00e1n Freund of Rizoma Producciones, Joaquin Echeverr\u00eda of Brisa Films, and Pablo Berthelon of Carnada Films.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>4 PRODUCTION HOUSES, 4 PROMISING PROJECTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8602 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/RELIGION.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"349\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/RELIGION.jpg 980w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/RELIGION-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/RELIGION-768x414.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 349px) 100vw, 349px\" \/><\/strong><strong>17 Films<\/strong> is a film, television, and theater production company dedicated mainly to the development, management, and production of international projects. Karina Jury is its producer, and at this moment she is principally seeking financing for the new film <strong><em>El profesor de religi\u00f3n<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Sebasti\u00e1n Mu\u00f1oz, the winner of the Queer Lion Award at Venice in 2019 (for his first feature <em>The Prince<\/em>), this LGBTQ+ drama set in Rome will narrate, in 100 minutes, the story of Genesio, a religion professor at a marginal urban high school who is fired from his position over his sexual orientation. The film is currently in development and will be a big co-production between Chile, via 17 Films, and Italy, at the hand of Macaia Film, approaching the conflict of discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout a doubt, San Sebasti\u00e1n connects Latin America with Europe, and it is where in previous years we\u2019ve had very good results, securing big co-productions. This is the third time that we\u2019ve participated, and despite the format, which is virtual, we believe that regardless we will achieve our objectives, to get a Spanish co-producer,\u201d comments <strong>Jury<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8604 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/HIERRO.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"341\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/HIERRO.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/HIERRO-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/HIERRO-768x431.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/>Meanwhile, <strong>Rizoma Producciones<\/strong>, dedicated to the creation, development, production, and commercialization of fiction content for film and television, at the hand of <strong>Sebasti\u00e1n Freund<\/strong>, is promoting its project <strong><em>Hierro<\/em><\/strong>, a film that will be directed by <strong>Alejandro Fern\u00e1ndez Almendras<\/strong> (<em>Much Ado About Nothing)<\/em> and that will approach, from an original point of view, the current conflict in Araucan\u00eda in the South of Chile, surrounding the Mapuche people.<\/p>\n<p>With a successful short film among its credentials (<strong><em>Austral Fever<\/em><\/strong>, Venice 2019), production house <strong>Brisa Films <\/strong>cleared its path to internationalization, ensuring that its projects be characterized by their commitment with the audience, generating content that proposes an aesthetically pleasing experience and invites reflection and discussion. Today, producer Joaqu\u00edn Echeverr\u00eda is working from London in the Basque audiovisual encounter, in search of financing for the non-fiction film by young director Thomas Woodroffe, entitled <strong><em>Bloques Err\u00e1ticos<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8605 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/BRISA.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"311\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/BRISA.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/BRISA-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/BRISA-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/BRISA-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/>Echeverr\u00eda<\/strong> asserts, \u201cWe\u2019re seeking alliances and the possibility to add an associate co-producer or sales agent that allow us to realize the documentary. On the other hand, we\u2019re in search of alliances in the making of minority co-productions, for which we\u2019ll put special emphasis on the Co-Production Forum.
