CinemaChile has also launched its new International Film Catalogue for 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&gt;&gt;&gt; With the support of ProChile, 18 of the most exciting Chilean films of recent times are available to all professionals at the March\u00e9 du Film in an exclusive virtual theater for Chilean cinema. 5 different films are being shown each day, including fiction features, documentaries, animation, and shorts, all with a unique style and presented in alliance with the sales agent or producers of the titles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joining thousands of professionals from around the world, Chilean producers, exactly 49 of them, will be working to expand their network during the main European film industry event of the year: the March\u00e9 du Film de Cannes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of these 45 producers, 16 have the support of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage (Mincap) after being selected by the International Market Assistance Program of the Council of Art and Audiovisual Industry (CAIA), which supports the revival of the audiovisual sector after the severe crisis caused by the pandemic that is hitting the world. In addition, the entire delegation will be supported by CinemaChile, ProChile&#8217;s sector brand, which will participate one more year in the event not only to promote the work of Chileans accredited in Cannes through an intense agenda, but also to exhibit the new International Film Catalogue 2020, a publication made up of 97 films, including fiction, animation and documentary feature lengths and short films, which will be released during the next 12 months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chilean presence at the virtual event is allowing producers and companies to initiate or even seal agreements that could mean the financement, co-production and continuity of audiovisual projects that have been on standby during the current pandemic. This is thanks to the March\u00e9 digital platform that includes virtual stands and pavilions, meeting spaces, market screenings, talks, conferences, speed meetings and a program dedicated to virtual reality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>CHILE, EVENT HOST FOCUSED ON CO-PRODUCTION<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roc\u00edo Jadue from Fabula, Macarena L\u00f3pez from Manufactura de Pel\u00edculas, Andr\u00e9s Mardones from Altiro Films, Clara Taricco from La Forma Cine, Roberto Doveris from Ni\u00f1a Ni\u00f1o Films, Gabriela Sandoval from Storyboard Media, Florencia Larrea from Forastero, Sergio Karmy from Alto Andes Films, Nicol\u00e1s San Mart\u00edn from Primate Lab, Omar Zeballos from Voladores Films, Patricio Ochoa La Merced Producciones, Sebasti\u00e1n Moreno from Pel\u00edculas del Pez, Karina Jury from At\u00f3mica TV and 17 Producciones, Crist\u00f3bal Almagia from Almagico Films, Mixie Araya de Yareta and Jorge Fern\u00e1ndez de Atisbo Films are the 16 producers selected by the Mincap program to participate in this edition of the March\u00e9 du Film. Of these, seven producers &#8211; who have outstanding careers that include films released to the\u00a0 international circuit &#8211; will be part of the Producers Network. For the fourth consecutive year, CinemaChile has presented five of the professionals during \u201cChile Under the Spotlight \u201d, an exclusive event for producers from all over the world to stimulate international co-productions.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7123\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7123\" style=\"width: 602px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7123\" src=\"http:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/FABULA_Fiebre.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/FABULA_Fiebre.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/FABULA_Fiebre-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/FABULA_Fiebre-1024x539.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/FABULA_Fiebre-768x404.jpg 768w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/FABULA_Fiebre-1536x809.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7123\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Fiebre&#8221; de Elisa Eliash<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This networking event, like the entire March\u00e9 du Film, is being held online through \u201cbreakfast meetings\u201d where selected producers and important members of the\u00a0 international industry are be able to share \u201ca table\u201d; the 5 Chileans who are being higlighted in &#8220;Chile under the spotlight&#8221; are Jadue, L\u00f3pez, Mardones, Taricco and Doveris.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the market, Jadu, is looking to close the financing of the new film in development by Christopher Murray (&#8220;The Blind Christ&#8221;), entitled &#8220;Los Brujos&#8221;; L\u00f3pez, is present with the second feature film by Pepa San Mart\u00edn (&#8220;Rara&#8221;), called &#8220;La Felicidad&#8221;, which is in development and in search of co-production.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mardones, from Altiro Films, is looking to close financing for\u00a0 \u201cThe strategy of the mongoose\u201d, by Esteban Larra\u00edn (&#8220;The passion of Michelangelo&#8221;); Taricco, from La Forma Cine, is looking to find a sales agents for Elisa Eliash&#8217;s &#8220;Fever&#8221;. To round off the list, Doveris, from Ni\u00f1a Ni\u00f1o Films, is looking for co-producing partners for &#8220;El Pa(de)ciente&#8221;, by Constanza Fern\u00e1ndez.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Producers Gabriela Sandoval, Florencia Larrea, Igal Albala and Isabel Orellana are also participating in Producers Network. Sandoval, together with her partner Carlos Nu\u00f1ez of Storyboard Media, are at the market with the &#8220;El Cardenal&#8221;, a co-production with Argentina, Brazil, and is about to confirm its European partner. The film is looking to have a global reach, with an international cast and a top of the line production value for Chilean film. Sandoval is also searching for coproducers for \u201cPerhaps it is true what they say about us\u201d, a film by Sof\u00eda G\u00f3mez and Camilo Becerra in a development stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Larrea and her partner in Forastero, Gregorio Gonz\u00e1les, are not only searching for sales agents for &#8220;Tengo miedo torero&#8221; (finished film with a just released trailer, starring Alfredo Castro), but they are also at the market with the co-production in development &#8220;La Pr\u00e1ctica&#8221;, by the Argentine director Mart\u00edn Rejtman, who will shoot for the first time outside of his native country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orellana, producer of Araucaria Cine, is looking for a sales agent for the art-house thriller &#8220;Immersion&#8221;, directed by Nicol\u00e1s Postiglione; and Albala, from Calibre 71, will bet on a new co-producing partner to join his science fiction film &#8220;Isla Friendship&#8221;, by director David Albala, director of one of the most important recent releases of Chilean cinema: &#8220;Pacto de Fuga&#8221; .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THE NEW CHILEAN FILMS:\u00a0 A RENOVATED OFFER<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The March\u00e9 du Film allows a real coming together of key players in the industry, selecting projects with high potential in official selection. This is the case of the Italian-Chilean film &#8220;Vera de Verdad&#8221; that will be shown in the Frontieres section and whose producer is, among other associated professionals, Karina Jury of At\u00f3mica Films an her new company, 17 Producciones. \u201cVera de Verdad\u201d is one of the six feature films in post-production (or recently completed) chosen for the Fronti\u00e8res Buyers Showcase, a platform that is showing\u00a0 15 minutes of the selected films to potential buyers, sales agents and festival programmers.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7124\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7124\" style=\"width: 563px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7124 \" src=\"http:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/ATOMICA-FIMS-VERDA-DE-VERDAD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"563\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/ATOMICA-FIMS-VERDA-DE-VERDAD.jpg 2500w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/ATOMICA-FIMS-VERDA-DE-VERDAD-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/ATOMICA-FIMS-VERDA-DE-VERDAD-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/ATOMICA-FIMS-VERDA-DE-VERDAD-768x480.jpg 768w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/ATOMICA-FIMS-VERDA-DE-VERDAD-1536x960.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/ATOMICA-FIMS-VERDA-DE-VERDAD-2048x1280.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 563px) 100vw, 563px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7124\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Vera de Verdad&#8221; (At\u00f3mica Films)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Black comedies, dramas, science fiction and adventure film make up the mosaic of the renewed selection that Chilean cinema has to offer.\u00a0 The producers, some with vast trajectories and others just beginning their internationalization path, will be showing the world from their homes and from virtually until June 26th, taking advantage of each instance that the March\u00e9 du Film online will offer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crist\u00f3bal Almagia, from Almagico Films, is participating with \u201cResistencia Matapacos\u201d, while Sergio Karmy, from Alto Andes is present at the market with with \u201cThe last song\u201d, by Jaime Villarroel, a story inspired by the death of\u00a0 V\u00edctor Jara, a singer-songwriter killed during the dictatorship. Both productions are in development and looking for financing partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Looking for international co-producers, Nicol\u00e1s San Mart\u00edn from Primate Lab, is promoting \u201cQue se acabe todo\u201d, a film about one of the biggest financial scandals in Chile that will be directed by Mois\u00e9s Sep\u00falveda and star Paulina Garc\u00eda. Omar Zeballos, from Voladores Films, will be with \u201cAroma\u201d, a production that he is directing and currently writing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In turn, Patricio Ochoa, along with Karla Falc\u00f3n, from La Merced, are participating with &#8220;Historias Clandestinas&#8221;, by Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Gonz\u00e1lez, a film in development looking for sales agents. Sebasti\u00e1n Moreno from Pel\u00edculas del Pez, together with partner Claudia Barril, are presenting the documentary \u201cSergio Larra\u00edn, the eternal moment\u201d, directed by\u00a0 Moreno himself, in post-production and looking for sales agents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mixie Araya, from production house Yareta Producciones, is presenting Jorge Acevedo&#8217;s \u201cCustodio, el tigre del este\u201d, which is in the process of writing and in search of funding, as well as the animation series for children \u201cPerrocuento\u201d. Jorge Fern\u00e1ndez from Atisbo Films, together with Alicia Alfaro, are looking for co-producers for \u201cTodo sobre Ariel\u201d (directed by Fern\u00e1ndez).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/PRESSKIT-CHILE-EN-CANNES-2020-web.pdf\">For more information click here to meet the Chilean producers and their best projects!<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>The Cinema Chile Screening Room<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another interesting addition to the Chilean presence at the market is &#8220;The Cinema Chile Screening Room&#8221;, a virtual room in which 18 of the most exciting Chilean films of recent time will be screened, including fiction and documentary features, and will be available to all professionals accredited at the March\u00e9 du Film. Five different films will be available each day, with a unique style, presented in partnership with the sales agent\u00a0 and producers of each title. The program includes titles such as the award-winning documentary &#8220;Lemebel&#8221; by Joanna Reposi and the Venice premiere &#8220;Ema&#8221; by Pablo Larra\u00edn, to animations such as the acclaimed &#8220;The Wolf House&#8221; by Joaqu\u00edn Coci\u00f1a and Crist\u00f3bal Le\u00f3n, and &#8220;Nahuel y el libro m\u00e1gico&#8221; directed by Germ\u00e1n Acu\u00f1a, selected in the official competition of Annecy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/en\/film-catalogue-2020\/#dflip-df_6207\/3\/\"><b>NEW INTERNATIONAL CATALOGUE OF CHILEAN CINEMA<\/b><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 90 films and around 100 national directors are part of the 2020 edition of the new International Film Catalogue, which will be available on the CinemaChile website. The launch of the publication is taking place, as is already the tradition, within the framework of the March\u00e9 du Film de Cannes. The new films of the catalogue, which will be released over the next 12 months, build a multi-faceted narrative about a constantly changing world, featuring work by filmmakers with extensive trajectory and also new talents.
