We\u2019re talking about the opera prima <\/span><b><i>Adriana\u2019s Pact<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><i>A Moon Made of Iron<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, two magnificent works that give life to a new edition of Thursdays of Chilean Cinema.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s unusual for a debut film to cause as much commotion as Lissette Orozco managed to do with her documentary \u201c<\/span><b>Adriana\u2019s Pact<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, demonstrating not just her immense cinematic talent, but also her bravery in sharing her personal journey and having it resonate universally. Since its premiere at the Berlinale, the film has participated in more than 100 festivals and received 25 awards, among which include the Peace Prize in Berlin, and the nomination for Best Film at the F\u00e9nix and the Platino Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4604\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4604\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-4604 \" src=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.clwp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/el-pacto-de-adriana-300x165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"275\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4604\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Adriana&#8217;s Pact&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b><i>Adriana\u2019s Pact, <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">produced by Storyboard Media and Salmon Producciones and co-produced by Carnada Films, Ursus Films, La Post, and 235, a Colombian production company, and was made with the support of Corfo, Tribeca Film Institute, DocsDF, and Industry Guadalajara,\u00a0 it\u2019s one of the most emblematic Chilean documentaries of late, an instrumental piece in understanding how the effects of the dictatorship remain latent in new generations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><b><i>Adriana\u2019s Pact<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> drives us to question our childhood idols by way of the director\u2019s own experience, who begins to dismantle the dark past of Adriana, her favorite aunt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The film is constructed through an intimate narrative and a fresh perspective of a moment in history in which Orozco wasn\u2019t alive yet. It will transform into an investigative device, driven by the desire to know the truth hidden by a former worker of the National Intelligence Directorate (DINA), the secret police of the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lissette Orozco is a director, producer, and screenwriter. She was assistant director of the documentary <\/span><b><i>Lemebel<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Joanna Reposi, the film that won the Teddy Award at the 2019 Berlinale. She directed several short documentaries that were awarded in the Museum of Memory and Human Rights\u2019 National Contest, and as a creator she has worked on docu-realities <\/span><b><i>Match<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><i>4to Medio<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She is currently working on documentaries <\/span><b><i>Despu\u00e9s de Leonor<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, about adoption, and producing the documentaries <\/span><b><i>Positivo, para Violeta<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about HIV<\/span><b>, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b><i>Dalila<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about the Armero tragedy in Colombia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/421253991\/a4800ec78d\"><b>Click here to watch Adriana&#8217;s Pact<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>A Moon Made of Iron<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Francisco Rodr\u00edguez is a short experimental documentary produced by Bertrand Scalabre that premiered at the 2018 Copenhagen International Documentary Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4609\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4609\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-4609 \" src=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.clwp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ULDH_9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"366\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4609\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;A Moon Made of Iron&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This 28-minute work was shot on 16mm film and won the award for Best Latin American Short Film at the 2018 Valdivia Film Festival. It also had an important international run that contemplated events like the Punto de Vista Festival and the Viennale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a film with hypnotic cinematography, simultaneously political and intimate, where four Chinese workers disappear in the ocean, having leapt from a boat as it crosses the Strait of Magellan in an attempt to reach the Chilean coast and escape the conditions of exploitation in which they find themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Francisco Rodr\u00edguez is a graduate filmmaker from Le Fresnoy and has directed the films <\/span><b><i>Samanta, Appels t\u00e9lephoniques<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><i>Why Are They Equipped With Eyes?<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, among others.
