{"id":3668,"date":"2020-02-18T12:27:32","date_gmt":"2020-02-18T16:27:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl?p=3668"},"modified":"2020-02-19T11:41:52","modified_gmt":"2020-02-19T15:41:52","slug":"chile-amplia-su-participacion-ad-portas-de-un-nueva-edicion-de-la-berlinale-y-el-european-film-market-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/en\/espanol-nota-dos-berlin\/","title":{"rendered":"Chile expands its participation heading into a new edition of the Berlinale and European Film Market 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to the potent, previously announced presence in different sections of the <strong>Berlin Film Festival<\/strong> and <strong>European Film Market<\/strong> (EFM), the audiovisual market of the German event where <strong>Chile<\/strong> will star in the fourth edition of <strong>Country in Focus<\/strong>, the event will also include the participation of ten Chilean film and TV producers as part of its <strong>Producers Hub <\/strong>program, which will take place within the context of the EFM.<\/p>\n<p>Designated as a sales and distribution platform that seeks to facilitate key negotiations for each of its participants, <strong>Producers Hub<\/strong> will provide visibility for the work of ten professionals selected following an open call for participants carried out by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, and which will allow the national industry\u2019s work to be strengthened. The participants are <strong>Valentina Roblero of Ocio Films, Yeniffer Fasciani of Niebla Producciones, Cynthia Garc\u00eda of Cyan Prods, Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 D\u00edaz of Dos Be Producciones, Sergio G\u00e1ndara of Parox, Macarena L\u00f3pez of Manufactura de Pel\u00edculas, Francisco Herv\u00e9 of Juntos Films, Carlos N\u00fa\u00f1ez of Storyboard Media, Alejandro Ugarte of Infractor Films, and Roc\u00edo Jadue of Fabula. <\/strong>All of them will compose a mosaic of diversity, talent, and creativity, boasting different focuses and styles; and will be present in an exclusive encounter alongside a select group of international professionals.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, another five national producers will form part of the <strong>Visitor\u2019s Program<\/strong>, a space within the <strong>Co-Production Market<\/strong> that provides advisory workshops for producers who are beginning the internationalization of their projects; <strong>Patricio Ochoa of Goodgate Chile, Karla Falc\u00f3n of La Merced Producciones, Fernanda Mancilla of Mimbre Producciones, Paulina Passi of Yareta, and Rodrigo D\u00edaz of Brisa<\/strong> will share their most recent projects and ideas.<\/p>\n<p>With the eyes of the international industry on Chile, three recent films by three big national directors will be exhibited at the German market to possible buyers, distributors, agents, and other key professionals: <strong><em>The Mole Agent<\/em><\/strong> by documentary filmmaker <strong>Maite Alberdi<\/strong> \u2014 produced by <strong>Micromundo<\/strong> \u2014 which began its international route with a successful premiere and highly positive critical reviews at the Sundance Film Festival; <strong><em>My Friend Alexis<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Alejandro Fern\u00e1ndez Almendras<\/strong> and produced by <strong>Fabula<\/strong>, which already premiered nationally and filled the theaters with children and adults; and the most recent release by <strong>Jos\u00e9 Luis Torres Leiva<\/strong>, <strong><em>Death Will Come and Shall Have Your Eyes<\/em><\/strong>, a <strong>Globo Rojo Films<\/strong> production that was highly applauded following its premiere at San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival and that has since continued its international trajectory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CHILEAN CO-PRODUCTION AT THE BERLINALE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amid the most recent news has been the selection of the film <strong><em>Between Dog and Wolf <\/em><\/strong>(\u201cEntre perro y lobo\u201d), a documentary about the life of three former Cuban combatants who fought in the Angolan Civil War and who are training today to combat a new enemy. The Spanish, Cuban, Colombian, and Chilean co-production will be part of the <strong>Forum<\/strong> section, with five open screenings.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Irene Guti\u00e9rrez, <strong><em>Between Dog and Wolf<\/em><\/strong> has Amalric de Pontcharra as associate producer, who worked on the film after securing financing thanks to the <strong>CORFO Development<\/strong> program. Amalric de Pontcharra has resided in Chile since 2006, acting as an associate producer for the documentaries <strong><em>El diario de Agust\u00edn<\/em><\/strong> (2008), <strong><em>El otro d\u00eda<\/em><\/strong> (2012), and <strong><em>This is the Way I Like It II<\/em><\/strong> (2016), all documentaries directed by Chilean filmmaker Ignacio Ag\u00fcero.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth noting that Chilean participation in the Berlinale\u2019s European Film Market, which takes place from February 20th to March 1st, is being supported by the <strong>Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage<\/strong>, <strong>ProChile<\/strong>, and subsidiary brands <strong>CinemaChile<\/strong> and <strong>Chiledoc<\/strong>, along with <strong>CORFO<\/strong> and the <strong>Directorate of Cultural Affairs (Dirac)<\/strong> <strong>of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/strong>.
