The Trans-Andean festival will show first features, renowned filmmakers, retrospectives, and Super 8 and 16mm films, among other novelties.<\/p>\n<p>Chile landed in Argentina with films in several categories: participating in the Latin American Competition are <strong><em>I Never Climbed the Provincia<\/em><\/strong> by documentary filmmaker <strong>Ignacio Ag\u00fcero<\/strong>, which was awarded at the latest edition of the Marseilles International Film Festival; <strong><em>Lemebel<\/em><\/strong>, a documentary film by <strong>Joanna Reposi<\/strong>, which won the Teddy Award at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival; <strong><em>Lina from Lima<\/em><\/strong> by <strong>Mar\u00eda Paz Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong> (interview below), which premiered in the Discovery Section at the Toronto Film Festival in September; <strong><em>Death Will Come and Shall Have Your Eyes<\/em><\/strong> by <strong>Jos\u00e9 Luis Torres Leiva<\/strong>, a feature film that competed for the Golden Shell at the 67th San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival; and <strong><em>Sirena<\/em><\/strong> (\u201cMermaid\u201d) by <strong>Carlos Pi\u00f1eiro<\/strong>, a co-production between Bolivia, Qatar, and Chile.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive-video-wrap clr\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/govWc9eBZp0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in the Argentina Competition are: co-production <strong><em>De la Noche a la Ma\u00f1ana<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Manuel Ferrari<\/strong> and produced by Le Tiro, Tresmilmundos Cine, and Lucho Films; and in the Altered States competition is the latest piece by director <strong>Camila Jos\u00e9 Donoso<\/strong>, <strong><em>Nona. If They Soak Me, I\u2019ll Burn Them<\/em><\/strong>, which premiered in 2019 in the official section Tiger Competition at the Rotterdam Film Festival, produced by Mimbre Producciones.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, in the New Authors section, first feature <strong><em>The Man of the Future<\/em><\/strong> by <strong>Felipe R\u00edos<\/strong> (interview below) was selected, a film that earned actress <strong>Antonia Giesen<\/strong> the \u201cArtist Revelation\u201d Special Jury Mention at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival for her starring role in the film. It was produced by <strong>Giancarlo Nasi<\/strong> of Quijote Films (Chile), Sagrado Cine, and Uni\u00f3n de los R\u00edos (Argentina).<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive-video-wrap clr\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y-BM3dzgYl4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In Panorama of Argentine Cinema, <strong><em>Ceniza Negra<\/em><\/strong> by <strong>Sof\u00eda Quir\u00f3s<\/strong> (interview below) will be shown, a co-production between Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina, and France, which premiered this year during Critics\u2019 Week at Cannes. Meanwhile, participating in the Industry Work In Progress space is <strong><em>La Piedra de Ambrosetti<\/em><\/strong>, produced by <strong>Pilar Quinteros<\/strong> and <strong>Alan Segal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, presenting in the Mar de Chicos category are <strong><em>Extra\u00f1as Criaturas<\/em><\/strong> by <strong>Crist\u00f3bal Le\u00f3n <\/strong>and <strong>Cristina Sitja<\/strong> \u2014 which, just like Ag\u00fceros film, premiered at the 2019 Marseilles Film Festival \u2014 and the recent production by <strong>Jorge Olgu\u00edn<\/strong>, <strong><em>La Casa<\/em><\/strong>, which is part of the Open Veins section.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive-video-wrap clr\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RZq4umqZgMQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Mar del Plata International Film Festival is organized by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and seeks to promote audiovisual activity in all of its forms. Films of diverse origins, themes, and styles \u2014 ranging from classic cinema to new trends, new voices, and new technologies \u2014 are exhibited annually.
