It is <strong><em>Prince<\/em><\/strong>, first feature by director <strong>Sebasti\u00e1n Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, which will have its world premiere in the official competition, International Critics\u2019 Week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Prince<\/em><\/strong> is a feature-length fiction based on a novel of the same name by the author Mario Cruz. The history takes place in 1970, when, following a night of drunken debauchery, Jaime stabs his best friend in an apparent fit of passion. In prison, he becomes close with \u201cPotro\u201d, a respected older man, with whom he begins a relationship. Jaime then becomes known as \u201cThe Prince\u201d, and he\u2019ll discover affection and loyalty, all the while confronting the power struggles that happen behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the first feature film by <strong>Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, who has been an art director on films by <strong>Alicia Scherson<\/strong> and <strong>Pablo Larra\u00edn<\/strong>. The film was produced by <strong>Marianne Mayer-Beckh<\/strong> from El Otro Film (Chile) and <strong>Roberto Doveris<\/strong> from Ni\u00f1aNi\u00f1o Films (Chile), co-produced by Le Tiro Films (Argentina) and Be Revolution Pictures (Belgium). The cast includes <strong>Juan Carlos Maldonado<\/strong>, <strong>Alfredo Castro<\/strong>, <strong>Cesare Serra<\/strong>, <strong>Gast\u00f3n Pauls<\/strong>, <strong>Lucas Balmaceda<\/strong>, <strong>Sebasti\u00e1n Ayala<\/strong>, and <strong>Jos\u00e9 Antonio Raffo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During its development stage, the project participated in important international development instances such as Cine en Construcci\u00f3n at the 2018 San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival. It boasts the work of <strong>Carolina Espina<\/strong> in wardrobe, <strong>Claudia Gallardo<\/strong> in art direction, <strong>Enrique Stindt<\/strong> as director of photography, <strong>Gerson Valenzuela<\/strong> as general producer, <strong>Danielle Fillios<\/strong> as editor, <strong>Guido Deniro<\/strong> in sound, <strong>\u00c1ngela Acu\u00f1a<\/strong> in original music, and <strong>Luis Barrales<\/strong> and <strong>Sebasti\u00e1n Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong> as screenwriters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the film, the director commented that \u201cit picks up this story and puts it on the big screen, transmitting all of my experience as an Art Director in the creation of spaces, architecture, textures, and colors, in order to build the universe of <strong><em>Prince<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Venice Film Festival is one of the most prestigious festivals in the world, and for decades, it has taken on the task of promoting international cinema in all its forms \u2014 art, entertainment, and industry.
