{"id":10673,"date":"2021-08-05T20:57:30","date_gmt":"2021-08-05T20:57:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/?p=10673"},"modified":"2021-08-20T23:41:55","modified_gmt":"2021-08-20T23:41:55","slug":"5-pasos-de-la-carrera-de-paulina-garcia-el-talento-y-la-gloria-de-una-actriz-emblematica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/en\/espanol-5-steps-paulina-garcia\/","title":{"rendered":"5 steps in the career of Paulina Garc\u00eda: the glorious talent of an emblematic actress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Words fall short in defining Paulina Garc\u00eda: versatile, powerful, moving, and an infinite list of qualities that make her stand out as one of the best actresses in Chile and Latin America.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her multifaceted talent returns to the big screen in the new edition of the Locarno Festival (August 4th to 14th) as part of the cast of Claudia Huaiquimilla&#8217;s second feature film <\/span><b><i>My Brothers Dream Awake<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, (produced by Pablo Greene and Mariana Tejos) which will be screened in the Official Competition &#8211; Cineasti del Presente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We wanted to take advantage of this new Chilean film premiere to highlight five milestones of her expansive career, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which took a leap of international magnitude thanks to her iconic role in Sebasti\u00e1n Lelio&#8217;s <\/span><b><i>Gloria<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5NQjN9Few1g\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>THEATER<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like many national artists, the first stop in her career was the theater, gathering resounding success that kept her on stage for years and led her to found the Theater Directors Association in 1997.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among her most outstanding plays are <\/span><b><i>D\u00f3nde estar\u00e1 la Jeanette<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1984) by Luis Rivano, for which she won the APES Award for Best Actress of the Year; <\/span><b><i>Cari\u00f1o malo<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1990) by In\u00e9s Stranger; <\/span><b><i>El t\u00edo Vania<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1994) by Ant\u00f3n Ch\u00e9jov; and <\/span><b><i>Las analfabetas<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Pablo Paredes (2010), among many others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her love for theater was also extended to education, teaching classes at prominent institutions such as the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, the Fernando Gonz\u00e1lez School and Finis Terrae.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10667\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10667\" style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-10667\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/paly-teatro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"304\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10667\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Las analfabetas&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>SERIES<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From Chilean broadcast television to one of the most important streaming services in the world, Netflix, Pali Garc\u00eda has oozed talent on screens for years. From roles in period pieces or series filled with realism, such as in the two seasons of the successful series <\/span><b><i>C\u00e1rcel de Mujeres<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2008), where she played a fearsome prison leader, or in <\/span><b><i>Los Archivos del Cardenal<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2011) where she was a brave journalist in the dictatorial era in Chile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of her latest and most memorable roles was in the multi-awarded series <\/span><b><i>Narcos<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Jos\u00e9 Padilha (2017, Golden Trailer Awards), where she had to play the mother of drug trafficker Pablo Escobar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-10670 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/series-paly.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"519\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/series-paly.jpg 500w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/series-paly-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 519px) 100vw, 519px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>HER BEGINNINGS IN CHILEAN CINEMA<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pali has woven a significant web of national fiction, having memorable and diverse performances in cinema, performing as about 22 important characters. Her great film debut was in<\/span><b><i> Three Saturday Nights<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2002) by Joaqu\u00edn Eyzaguirre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She had other starring roles in <\/span><b><i>Cachimba<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2004) by Silvio Caiozzi, and was later directed by Eyzaguirre again in <\/span><b><i>Casa de Remolienda<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2007) acting alongside Alfredo Castro and Amaparo Noguera, among other great national actors.\u00a0 For her leading role in <\/span><b><i>Illiterate<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2013) by Moises Sep\u00falveda, she received several awards, including Best Actress at the Gramado Festival (2013), and nominations for the F\u00e9nix (2014) and Platino (2015) Awards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-10667 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/paly-cine.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>THE THRESHOLD: GLORIA!<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sebasti\u00e1n Lelio and Pali Garc\u00eda, an extraordinary duo that in 2013 filled us with pride and expectation after the premiere of <\/span><b><i>Gloria<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Berlin. There, the actress won the prestigious Silver Bear Award for her powerful performance, positioning her as an actress to watch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the film, Pali Garc\u00eda explored a perfect blend of comedy and drama, delving into existential problems, loneliness, and human questions that arise when approaching old age.
