Also, at the Venice Gap-Financing Market, two coproductions were selected:\u00a0 <strong><em>The settlers (Los colonos)<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Felipe G\u00e1lvez <\/strong>and produced by <strong>Quijote Films<\/strong>; and <em><strong>Pamfir<\/strong><\/em>, directed by <strong>Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk<\/strong> (<strong>Ukraine \/ France \/ Poland \/ Chile<\/strong>), produced by Bosonfilm and coproduced by <strong>Quijote Films<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, <strong>Chile is back with a wide selection at one of the most important festivals in the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Official Competition and Orizzonti Shorts<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-10596 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SPENCER.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SPENCER.jpg 850w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SPENCER-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SPENCER-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/><\/strong><strong><em>Spencer <\/em><\/strong>signals the return of <strong>Pablo Larra\u00edn<\/strong> to Venice after the premiere of <strong><em>Ema<\/em><\/strong> (2019) at the Official Competition of the Festival. While his last film was a cross-section of Latin American art, desire, and family, his latest work focuses on a media story with global reach: the intimate story of Princess Diana, starring Kristen Stewart.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Steven Knight, creator of the series<strong><em> Peaky Blinders<\/em><\/strong>, the film focuses on a weekend in the early 1990s, when Diana decided to separate from Prince Charles amid rumors of infidelity.<\/p>\n<p>Larra\u00edn&#8217;s new film has generated great expectations, being named one of the most anticipated films of the year by media outlets such as Variety and Fotograma, and his first in English since<strong><em> Jackie <\/em><\/strong>(Venice, 2016).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Orizzonti Shorts<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-10594 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/los-huesos.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/los-huesos.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/los-huesos-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/los-huesos-1024x745.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/los-huesos-768x559.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/><\/strong>Another of the premieres at Official Competition in the section <strong>Orizzonti Shorts<\/strong> is the new short film by Le\u00f3n y Coci\u00f1a, <strong><em>Los huesos<\/em><\/strong>, made by the directorial duo who achieved international success with <strong><em>La casa Lobo<\/em><\/strong> (The Wolf House (Berlinale Forum, 2018, produced by Globo Rojo Films), being named one of the best animated films of all time by IGN.<\/p>\n<p>The short film pretends to be the first stop motion animation film in the world, imagining two historical figures from Chile as they are dug up. The origin of this idea, say the directors, came with the social upheavals in Chile in October 2019. Ari Aster, director of films such as <strong><em>Hereditary<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Midsommar<\/em><\/strong>, joined as executive producer alongside Lucas Engel of Pista B Producciones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an honor to have been selected to premiere worldwide at a festival as emblematic as Venice. We are thrilled! Crist\u00f3bal and Joaqu\u00edn (and all the talented team that work with them frequently) really deserve this kind of recognition, and I hope this is just the beginning of a nice international tour,\u201d said <strong>Engel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Los huesos<\/em><\/strong> is the only Latin American short film in the official Orizzonti Shorts competition, and marks Chile&#8217;s return to the section after the premiere of <strong><em>Fiebre austral<\/em><\/strong> (Southern Fever) (Thomas Woodroffe, 2019) beginning an expansive international journey. With a wide portfolio of projects premiering at prestigious festivals (<em><strong>Death will come and take your eyes, <\/strong><\/em>San Sebasti\u00e1n, 2019) and others in development, she is leading the participation of two works coming to Venice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very happy to have been selected with this film and this project for Venice. (Sales: Elle Driver).<\/p>\n<p>This represents the continuation of Chile at Venice Days, after the world premiere of <strong><em>Tengo miedo Torero<\/em><\/strong> (Bullfighter, I&#8217;m Afraid) (Rodrigo Sep\u00falveda, Stranger) in 2020, also starring Castro.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Venice Production Bridge<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-10597 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/angeles.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"404\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/angeles.jpg 877w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/angeles-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/angeles-768x484.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 404px) 100vw, 404px\" \/>\u00a0<\/strong>The second feature in development by Le\u00f3n and Coci\u00f1a, <strong><em>Los \u00c1ngeles, <\/em><\/strong> produced by Vergara, is a science fiction thriller that appears to have been made in the 1940s and whose action takes place in a dystopian Chile of 2020. During this time, Dalia Le\u00f3n (Antonia Giesen) is a police officer of \u2018Andinia\u2019, the name given to Chile after being annexed to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The film will be a mixture of acting, animation, puppets, models, and other things. The story is inspired by both the tradition of science fiction cinema and the symbolic world of Miguel Serrano, a Chilean poet, ambassador, and nazi who lived during much of the twentieth century and part of the twenty-first,\u201d Coci\u00f1a told us.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Los \u00c1ngeles <\/em><\/strong>tells the story of Constanza Nordenflycht, a young woman who at the age of 15 began a relationship with the politician Diego Portales, with whom she had three children who were only recognized by the Chilean State after the Portales&#8217; death in 1837.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this new feature film,<strong><em> Los \u00c1ngeles<\/em><\/strong>, we want it to open up its own space, because it is a powerful and attractive project.
