The March\u00e9 du Film 2021 is still going strong in its second week!<\/span><\/p>\n

Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, 15 Chilean producers are seeking out new horizons for their audiovisual projects, a compendium of works that include auteur film, thematic approaches, and new perspectives. Their new projects include upcoming films and series from outstanding Chilean directors such as Elisa Eliash, Constanza Fernandez, Carola Fuentes, Thomas Woodroffe, and many others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Below we will present you with an overview of some of the projects currently seeking partnerships to carry out their development and completion, as well as the names of the filmmakers who will set a course for the future of our cinema!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Clara Taricco (Forma Cine) <\/b>is at the market with <\/span>Fever<\/i><\/b>, the third film by Elisa Eliash (<\/span>Aqu\u00ed estoy, aqu\u00ed no, <\/i><\/b>BAFICI 2012<\/span>). <\/i><\/b>An adventure about childhood in the 21st century, the film begins with a classic plot from children’s literature, combining imagined mutant and psychedelic settings along the way. Selected in the WIP in Guadalajara 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Robert Doveris<\/b> (Ni\u00f1a ni\u00f1o films)<\/b> director of <\/span>Las Plantas<\/i><\/b> (Plants) (Berlinale, 2016) and co-producer of <\/span>Victima Potencial<\/i><\/b> (Potential Victim) by Nicol\u00e1s Guzm\u00e1n (Tallinn Black Nights, 2018) and <\/span>El Principe<\/i><\/b> (The Prince) by Sebasti\u00e1n Mu\u00f1oz, (Venice, 2019), arrives at EFM with <\/span>El Padeciente <\/i><\/b>, a comedy about the Chilean health system directed by Constanza Fern\u00e1ndez (<\/span>Mapa para conversar<\/i><\/b>, Frameline 2012). <\/span>In postproduction, it is seeking a world premiere at festivals.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\"\"Carola Fuentes (La Ventana Cine),<\/b> has extensive experience with TV series. Her works have been shown around the world on foreign channels such as PBS, Univision, Al Jazeera, and CNN. She created the documentary <\/span>Chicago boys <\/i><\/b>(2015)<\/span>, <\/span><\/i>a key work for understanding the roots of neoliberalism in Chile. Currently, she is developing <\/span>Rompiendo el Ladrillo<\/i><\/b>, co-directed with Rafael Valdeavellano. The work explores the popular revolts that took place in the most neoliberal country in the world.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Joaquin Echeverr\u00eda (Brisa) <\/b>\u00a0was in the spotlight in 2019 with the premiere of\u00a0 <\/span>Fiebre Austral <\/i><\/b>\u00a0(Thomas Woodroffe), in Venice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Sophie Chevelier (Voladores film),<\/b> a photographer and visual artist, has participated in productions in <\/span>Cultural Winds <\/i><\/b>(A. C, Mexico) and <\/span>Kanal-4 <\/i><\/b>(Germany). After being a producer on <\/span>Aroma<\/i><\/b> (2020) by Omar Zeballos, she now joins with the director once again in his latest project,\u00a0 <\/span>La Viejita y la Revoluci\u00f3n<\/i><\/b>, a film in which the director paints an intimate portrait of his roots, Chile, a country in revolution, and the promise made to Rebeca Blanc, a Chilean who migrated to France and never returned.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Felipe Az\u00faa (Avispa Productions),<\/b> is a producer who has been working on films that deal with social issues for 10 years, with works that have premiered at the Cin\u00e9fondation in Cannes, San Sebastian, and Clermont-Ferrand. At the March\u00e9 du film, he is promoting <\/span>Animales<\/i><\/b>, Andr\u00e9s Waissbluth’s new film (<\/span>Un Caballo Llamado Elefante<\/i><\/b>, Cartagena de Indias, 2016), a dystopian anthology that reveals the contradictions that our species is living through in times of radical changes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Igal Albala (Calibre 71),<\/b> in addition to being a producer, has been part of COPA90 and the FIFA Digital Team during the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil. He recently premiered a short film on social issues, <\/span>Nando <\/i><\/b>(Alec Cutter, Shorts: Go big) at Tribeca. Recently, he has been developing <\/span>Isla Friendship<\/i><\/b>, his own production. It is a series about detectives, centering on a series of disappearances in southern Chile and the mysterious search for a particular community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Yennifer Fasciani <\/b>(Niebla productions) <\/b>is a multifaceted producer, who has participated in important industry events, such as the Berlinale Talents (2015) and the <\/span>Locarno Industry Academy (2017). She has worked on multiple projects with Ignacio Ruiz (<\/span>Pe\u00f3n, Arder, Green Grass<\/i><\/b>, and is currently developing <\/span>A la Deriva<\/i><\/b> (Adrift), a feature film that explores the life of a retired boxer who tries to regain custody of her daughter after killing her husband in self-defense.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Barbara Pest\u00e1n (Pocilga producciones), <\/b>\u00a0is a director, screenwriter, and producer who has debuted with major projects such as <\/span>Joselito <\/i><\/b>(2014) and\u00a0 <\/span>Al otro lado del r\u00edo <\/i><\/b>\u00a0(2011). She arrived in Cannes with Javiera V\u00e9lez promoting\u00a0 <\/span>Ver es un acto <\/i><\/b>, a film that portrays the story of love and hope of Herminia and Victor, the two main characters who seek to leave a place that for decades has made them invisible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Maximiliano Scheleff (Pajareza Films)<\/b> is working in Cannes on the debut of Juan Pablo Arias, a director who has worked on auteur horror projects in his short films <\/span>La historia de los monstruos<\/i><\/b> (AFI FEST, 2019) and <\/span>Hombre<\/i><\/b> (Cin\u00e9latino Rencontres de Toulouse, 2018) and now in the thriller <\/span>Karukinka <\/i><\/b>immerses himself in the isolation of Chilean Patagonia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Florencia Dupont <\/b>(Santiago Independent) <\/b>has participated in spaces such as Industry Academy Latin America at the Locarno Festival and has served as an assistant director and continuity editor for film and television projects. Her works point to a more independent cinema, with short films such as <\/span>Visceral<\/i><\/b> (2019). She is currently producing and distributing the feature film <\/span>Al amparo del cielo<\/i><\/b> by Diego Acosta, a story of a rural herder with more than a thousand sheep, which arrives in Cannes evoking feelings of loneliness and the passage of time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pepe Rovano <\/b>(Totoral Media)<\/b> brings to the market a documentary that he himself directed, a project that tells a story of disobedience, about a son of a genocidal war criminal who tries to repair his past. The intriguing non-fiction drama is titled <\/span>Bastardo: La herencia de un genocida).\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"Valentina Roblero (Ocio)<\/b> the filmmaker, producer and founder of Ocio, has produced films of Matias Lira (director of <\/span>El bosque de karadima<\/i><\/b>, 2015) and other projects he himself created, such as <\/span>Meta<\/i><\/b> (2013). For this edition of Cannes, she returns to the market with <\/span>Un documental llamado deseo<\/i><\/b>\u00a0 directed by Jos\u00e9 Luis Rivas, a work that reflects on the theater and offers a tribute to four documentary filmmakers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Alejandro Ugarte (Infractor Films) <\/b>\u00a0has produced important socially-themed films such as\u00a0 <\/span>Perro bomba <\/i><\/b>(Juan C\u00e1ceres, 2019) and <\/span>Par\u00edo y criao <\/i><\/b>\u00a0(Jorge Donoso, 2019). Currently\u00a0<\/span>he is looking for sales agents for\u00a0 <\/span>Mar\u00eda ojos negros<\/i><\/b> directed by Benjam\u00edn Brunet, recently filmed in the south of Chile after passing through WIP spaces such as the Coproduction Market and Pitching Forum of the Italian coproduction market MIA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Tevo Diaz (Trebol 3)\u00a0 <\/b>\u00a0With more than a decade working in direction, this multifaceted artist, a director of documentaries and experimental films such as\u00a0 <\/span>El Barco Ebrio<\/i><\/b>, a film that brought together artists such as Pedro Lemebel and Lafloripondio, has won numerous awards at Chilean and international festivals. He is currently working on the production of <\/span>Bestia<\/i><\/b>, by Constanza Wette, a promising short film inspired by a true story, which digs into the internal life of an agent with the secret police under the Chilean military dictatorship and his relationship with his dog, laying bare the rift in his personal life.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
