{"id":10021,"date":"2021-03-15T16:35:08","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T16:35:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/?p=10021"},"modified":"2021-04-16T15:49:36","modified_gmt":"2021-04-16T15:49:36","slug":"el-agente-topo-hace-historia-nominado-a-mejor-documental-en-los-premios-oscar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/en\/espanol-el-agente-topo-hace-historia-nominado-a-mejor-documental-en-los-premios-oscar\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Mole Agent\u201d makes history with its Oscar nomination for Best Documentary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b&gt;&gt;&gt; It\u2019s the first time a Chilean film has been nominated for Best Documentary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&gt;&gt;&gt; Maite Alberdi, director, and Marcela Santiba\u00f1ez, producer, are also the first women from Chile to be nominated for an Academy Award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&gt;&gt;&gt; It\u2019s also nominated for the Independent Spirit Awards in the Best Documentary category.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Find out what Maite Alberdi\u2019s reaction was to the historic nomination of here documentary <em>The Mole Agent<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w2Mn2sxEF3k\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The recent announcement hit several milestones:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Firstly, Alberdi and Santiba\u00f1ez are the first women from Chile to be nominated for an Oscar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second of all, it\u2019s the first time a Chilean documentary will compete in the Best Documentary category.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And third, it\u2019s the only Latin American film nominated this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chilean presence at the American Academy Awards has been building itself up in recent years since the nomination of No (2012) by Pablo Larra\u00edn, nominated for Best Foreign Language Film; A Fantastic Woman (2017), winner in said category; and Bear Story (2016) winner of the Best Animated Short category.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The success of Alberdi\u2019s film reaches forward from 2020 upon an acclaimed premiere at Sundance Film Festival. There, prestigious site Indiewire rated it as \u201cthe most emotive spy movie ever made\u201d. Later, it formed part of the official selections at Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic) and IDFA (Netherlands).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, in San Sebasti\u00e1n it participated in the \u201cPearls\u201d section and was awarded with the Audience Award for Best European Film.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The film has also had a successful run in other Spanish festivals such as Abycine, Sevilla, Valladolid, and Gij\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">On to the Independent Spirit Awards<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10023\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10023\" style=\"width: 370px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-10023\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/sergioymaite.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"462\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/sergioymaite.jpg 640w, https:\/\/antes.cinemachile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/sergioymaite-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 370px) 100vw, 370px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10023\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sergio Charmy and Maite Alberdi, protagonist and director of &#8220;The Mole Agent&#8221;.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mole Agent also continues to vie for the Independent Spirit Awards, the recognitions for independent cinema granted since 1984 in the United States (ceremony scheduled for April 22).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, it will premiere in several countries around the world.
